Unit 5 Why do you like pandas Section B 第4课时 （2a-2c） 房县上龛乡上龛学校 晏光桓 一、教学目标： 1. 知识与技能目标： 1) 能掌握以下单词： save, symbol, flag, forget, place, water, danger, cut, down, cut down, tree, kill, ivory, over 2) 能掌握以下句型： ① —What animal do you like? —I like elephants. ② The elephants is one of Thailand's symbols. ③ Let's save the Elephants. 3）通过阅读训练来让学生们逐步提高英语阅读能力。 2.过程与方法目标： 1)理解文章,会找文章主要内容 2)能完成思维图 3.情感态度价值观目标： 动物和人类都生活在同一地球上，动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处，共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物，保护动物。 二、教学重难点 1. 教学重点： 1) 通过阅读短文来了解世界各地一些其他动物的情况，让学生们眼界更宽阔。 2. 教学难点： 1）进行阅读训练，来培养学生们的综合阅读能力。 三、教学过程 Step 1：warming up play a game ：show Ss some pictures and ask Ss to tell me what kind of animals they are in English. Pictures:lions,elephants,pandas,giraffes,koalas,tigers Step 2：Work on 2a Check (√) the animals you think are in great danger. Step 3：Pre-reading Learn some main words: flag,water,tree,zoo,ivory,cut,danger,symbol,kill,save,place,forget,Thailand Step 4：While-reading 1.Listen to 2b and find the topic sentence of each paragraph. 1)Topic sentence of para.1 :The elephant is one of Thailand’s symbols. 2)Topic sentence of para.2 : Elephants are smart animals. 3)Topic sentence of para.3 :Elephants are in great danger. 2.Look at the picture and guess what king of animal the passage is talking about. Elephants in Thailand 3.Read paragraph 1 -3 and fill in the blanks. 1) Read paragraph 1 and fill in the blanks. 2) Read paragraph 2 and fill in the blanks. 3) Read paragraph 2 and fill in the blanks. 4.Work on 2b and complete the mind map. 5.Read the article carefully and answer the questions. Q1. Where are the students from?Thailand. Q2. What animal is one of Thailand’s symbols? The elephant. Q3. Are elephants smart animals?Yes, they are. Q4.Are elephats in great danger?Yes, they are. Q5. Why are elephants in great danger? Because people cut down many trees and they kill elephants for their ivory. Q6.How can we save the elephants? We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory. Q7.
