Unit 3 Lesson 9 Never Give Up! 教案

Teaching aims:

1. 进行课堂阅读训练，提高学生英语阅读能力。

2. 将课文主题与生活紧密联系，培养学生在生活中学习英语、运用英语的能力。 3. 对形容词、副词的比较级和最高级进行归纳整合。

Key points:

复习形容词、副词的比较级与最高级。

Difficult points:

引导学生在活动中、生活中灵活运用句型，培养学生英语听、说能力。

Teaching preparations:

PPT, cards, pictures, recorder.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Warm-up 1. Greeting:

T: Good morning, girls and boys. 2. Lead-in

Look at the photo and the title. Then answer the questions. 1) Where are they? 2) What’s the weather like? 3) What are they doing?

Step 2: Reading

1. Look at the headings (a-f). Read the text and match them with the paragraphs (1-6). Write the

numbers in the boxes.

2. Read the text again and answer these questions. 1) How did Janek lose part of his arm and leg? 2) Where did he meet Marek Kaminski? 3) What did Janek do before the expedition? 4) Why was the first expedition difficult? 5) When did they get to the North Pole?

6) What was Janek’s best answer of his life? Why?

Step 3: Your Turn

Read and answer the following questions.

1) What are your favourite books? Which one do you like best? 2) Which do you think is more difficult, English or maths? 3) Which is more interesting to you, sports or computer?

Step 4: Speaking

T: Work in pairs. Ask and answer the questions from “Your Turn”. Example:

A: What are your favourite books? Which one do you like best? B: I like “Harry Potter” best. The story is great.

Step 5: Homework

1. Memory all the key words and expressions. 2. Write a composition named “Never Give Up”.
