中国春节简介英文版 The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday in China. Red is considered auspicious in Chinese culture, signifying luck and prosperity. The eve of the Chinese New Year is when people traditionally have their family reunion dinner, known as 'Nian Ye Fan'. This meal is more important than any other meal during the year and is usually held at the home of the elderly family members. One of the most distinctive customs of the Spring Festival is the giving of red envelopes, known as 'hongbao', usually given by elders to children as a symbol of blessing and good luck. These envelopes usually contain money, symbolizing the transfer of good luck and blessings from elders to the younger generation. The Spring Festival is also a time for honoring ancestors and gods. Many families visit temples to pray for a prosperous year. The festivities include vibrant dragon and lion dances, fireworks, and family gatherings.
