It is said that there is too much reliance on the internet both

in professional and personal lives

In the wake of the improvement on internet technology and mobile internet device of the world, people pay more attention to and spend more time for the internet. People not only do jobs, but also spend their time online when they have a rest. Many people even spend more time ononline communication and playing computer games than communicating with family and playing sports. As a matter of fact, by decreasing spending time on the internet, people are able to form a much healthier lifestyle.

People hold different ideas. In some people’s mind, modern people have to be dependent on the internet, because,as the cost of computer hardware and software continues to decrease, and the popularity of the Internet increases, more segments of society are using the Internet for communication and information (Fox et al., 2001; Nie et al., 2002), the internet gradually becomes a part of people’s lives and can improve people’s work efficiency. But the disadvantages are obvious: an increasing number of people are suffering from diseases and various problems which are from the long-term use of internet device.

At first, if someone overly depends on the internet, his/her memory and intelligence quotient will be bad although this does not mean that the internet makes people less intelligence. We are still capable of remembering things that matter and are not easily found online, but when people meet some questions which can be solved online, people’s brains are better at remembering where to find a solution, rather than to solve questions (Krieger, 2011). Theseproblemsmeanmany people tend not to be dependent on themselves when they face a problem, and they are afraid to face sudden challenges, because depending on the internet to deal with things has weakened theri independent ability.

Secondly, the internet is bad for students’ psychological health. In recent years, students use of mobile internet devices has becomepopular. However, adults only focus on devices

influence body health of studentsrather than the internet influencesstudents’ psychological health. In 2013, some subjects indicated that the dependence on the computer and internet resulted in a type of isolation, seclusion, and mental engagement for students. Behavioral dependence on the internet in addition to physical disorders has a direct relationship to anxiety, social action and depression (EbadAsgari et al., 2013). Thereforestudents should play sport, or see friends rather than spend time on internet.

Finally, people can come bring into contact with the internet too closely.Inevitably this can lead to people’s privacy disclosure, because the internet cannot be perfect on privacy preserving, and some rogue websites have sold information to earn money. In a separate event in October 2013, Adobe confirmed that private information regarding above 2.9 million customers had been stolen during a sophisticated cyber-attack on its website (Pawlik, 2014). Even some governments also steal public privacy on the internet, for example, the National Security Agency had coordinated a global program called PRISM to access the contents of emails and live chats held by the world’s major Internet companies, including Google, Facebook and Skype (lbid).

In conclusion, thatalthough the internet bringspeople convenience and efficiencyin professional work and personal lives, people rely on the internet too much. The fact is that the Internet is a double-edged sword, people should use it intelligently.
