On November 24, 2020, the Chang’e 5 spacecraft was launched via the Long March 5 rocket. The mission landed on the lunar surface on December 1. It collected the samples the day after. Then, on December 3, the spacecraft carrying the lunar samples was launched into an orbit around the moon. On December 17, it safely landed in Inner Mongolia with the samples. The spacecraft landed in the “Ocean of Storms” on the near side of the moon. The rocks and soil near there are only 1.2 billion years old.
