全球变暖英语对话两人五分钟

F:What did you do over the weekend?

M:I went a global warming rally. It was fantastic to be around so many people who care about the environment.

F:Do you think there's anything we can do to reverse the damage that's been done already?

M:It might not be possible to fix the problems that we've created for ourselves, but there are lots of things we can do to prevent more damages from happening.

F:Like what?

M:Wellwe can use public transport instead of taking our cars for a start.

F:What else can we do to protect the environment? M:If you do have to driveyou should make sure that your car runs on unleaded petrol. Alsoyour home should use sources of renewable energy.

F:How about recycling? Does that actually help?

M:Yes. You should take your glasspaper, plasticcardboardand tin cans to a recycling center.

F:What do you think the biggest worry for our future is? M:I think that the issue of greatest concern is having enough sources of clean water for everyone.

F:I had no idea you were such as environmentalist before! M:To be honestin order for the earth to continue to be a habitable place,we're all going to have to become more interested in the environment.

F:Global warming could make humans shorter, warn scientists who claim to have found evidence that it caused the world's first horses to shrunk nearly 50 million years ago

M:In fact, a team from the universities of Florida and Nebraska says it has found a link between the Earth heating up and the size of mammals -- horses, in this case, the last time the world heated up

F:The scientists used fossils to follow the evolution of horses from their earliest appearance 56 million years ago

M:As temperatures went up their size went down, and vice versa; at one point they were as small as a house cat, said Dr Jonathan Bloch, curator of the Florida Museum of Natural History, was quoted by the "Daily Mail" as saying

F:The scientists say that the current warming could have the same effect on mammals -- and could even make humans smaller

M:"Horses started out small, about the size of a small dog like a miniature schnauzer. What's surprising is that after they first appeared, they then became even smaller and then

dramatically increased in size, and that exactly corresponds to the global warming event, followed by cooling

F:"It had been known that mammals were small during that time and that it was warm, but we hadn't understood that temperature specifically was driving the evolution of body size," Dr Bloch said in the "Science" journal
