Present a written argument or case to an educated reader with no specialist knowledge of the following topic. It is said that work is the most important thing of people's life. Without the success of career, life will become meaningless. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the opinion？Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. It is true that work plays a vital role in people’s life. Personally, I partly agree with the idea that the value and meaning of life lie in the success of career. There are several reasons accounting for the significance of work. From a personal perspective, work provides salaries for most people to satisfy their basic needs. For example, we need money to pay for housing, food, bills, health care, and education. In this case, work is undoubtedly a way of making a living. On the societal level, by levying tax on the employed, governments can provide the public with services like healthcare and education. Finally, individual work could lead to new inventions, economic growth, and greater future prosperity. In spite of these arguments, I believe that the meaning of life does not merely consist in the success of career. In my opinion, anyone who dedicates his life to hard work has dug out values of life. Steve Jobs redefined the electronic industry, Stephen Hawking sought answers to the questions about the nature of the universe, and Abraham Lincoln gave liberty to black slaves. It is true that these giant persons find out the values of their lives. In most cases, however, we ordinary people may not achieve those eminent goals. We have earnest attitudes that radiate energy to others though. Rich or poor, young or old, hard work taps out our potential and brings it out into full play. Striving for the best is where the meaning of life stands.
