Pollution, a Hazard to Human Existence Today, with the development of industry, the pollution of environment is becoming more and more serious. Water pollution, noise pollution, earth pollution and other kinds of pollution are all threatening out human beings. As it’s known to all, hundreds of species are becoming extinct every year. But not only plants and animals are victims for pollution, but also ourselves. In some areas, people are suffering from shortage of water because of water pollution, hunger due to draught or sickness caused by air pollution. In spite of this, we continue to pollute environment. Why? Deng Xiaoping has said piece and development, the theme of our times. To compete with other countries, government support to build more and more factories ignoring the pollution of environment. No country will risk their nation’s safety to slower industrial development. And our fast-growing needs for industrial products also stimulate this phenomenon. To satisfy all of these, we sacrifice natural environment, and the consequences are serious. For example, the smog in Chinese cities has become a problem that can’t be ignored. It can cause obvious harms to citizens’ health. More examples, many people may still remember the high temperature in Europe many years ago, the fever in that summer caused hundreds of people’s death. With the damage of atmosphere, global-warming is becoming more and more serious, that means the earth will be even hotter in our descendants’ generation. So, what shall we do now? I think governments could set laws to control industrial production to make sure it is environmentally friendly. Or they can control population growth just like China. Ordinary people can also devote to environmental pollution. For example, we could use bicycles or public transportations as much as possible, use fewer paper and plant more trees.
