The fox then continued on his way, still hungry and unsatisfied. The moral of this story is that people sometimes want things that are beyond their reach and then try to justify their failure by pretending that they never really wanted those things in the first place. This can be seen in a variety of situations, from people who apply for jobs they are not qualified for and then claim that they never really wanted that job to begin with, to people who pursue romantic relationships that are not meant to be and then claim that they were not really interested in that person to begin with.
