Nowadays, in some cities, especially in relatively developed cities, keeping pets is becoming an increasingly popular lifestyle. And it seems that the more money one has, the more likely that she or he would spend money on pets. However, I think, spending too much money on pets is not reasonable. The reasons why people want to spend lots of money on their pets come from different aspects. Firstly, the implement of one-child policy causes that many families has only one or less child. In this case, many families will take pets as their children. Especially for those old couples, when their children go outside for working, a little dog or cat would be a great substitution. Also there are many people taking good care of the pets just for fun. As we know, with the rapid development of economy, people’s living standard has been greatly improved. So they have extra time and extra money to raise some animals and grant them good life. And in some cases, having a precious and beautiful pet is a symbol of status. Although some dogs and animals are lovely and they need to be loved, I still think that people should spend their money in more useful ways. On one side, as a citizen, we should have a sense of social responsibility. Since there are millions of people suffering from cold and hungry if we have the ability, we should do our parts to help them. On the other side, we can invest our money on our business or health, which I think, would bring more profits than that of raising pets.
