“Detective Conan” is a detective mystery cartoon created by Aoyama(青山冈昌) in 1994. It‘s serialized（连载） in the weekly magazine “Shounen Sunday.” There’s also an anime（动画） series based on the manga（漫画书）. Both manga and anime are wildly popular in Japan, and they are both still ongoing. The manga and anime are being released in North America under the name "Case Closed" The story is about a 17-year-old genius （天才）detective named Shinichi Kudou who gets poisoned by a mysterious underground crime organization and shrinks（缩小） into his 7-year-old body. He‘s forced to hide his true identity, and fools his almost-girlfriend Ran into believing that he’s just a 7-year-old boy named Conan . He ends up living with Ran and her father in their home slash private detective agency. He continues to try and find a cure to un-shrink his body, solving various mystery cases along the way. Very few people know Conan‘s secret, and to this day, Ran is still clueless（一无所知的）. Major Characters and ones that frequently appear. Kudo is widely regarded as one of the top detectives in the land，and he is only in high school! The police often solicit（求助）his services, although sometimes unwillingly. Shinichi is a top athlete as well, often relying on his physical abilities to apprehend（逮捕） a crook. His father is a famous writer of detective novels, a fact that is inseparable（亲密无间的） from his career choice and his choice of personal hero, the one and only Sherlock Holmes. After being discovered snooping around（巡视） the shady business of a pair of criminals, Kudo is given an experimental drug that transforms the teen sleuth（侦探） to childhood size! Luckily he retained his intelligence for solving the most difficult crimes. Not wanting to reveal （泄漏）his true identity, Shinichi adopts the name Conan in honor of the creator of his hero, Sherlock Holmes. Although Conan takes great pleasure in solving crimes, he yearns to uncover the clues behind the "Men in Black" that forced him to take the experimental drug that forever changed his life. Ran, who is high school friends with Kudo, was with him on the night that he disappeared. Later, she accidentally stumbles into（遇见） Conan and adopts（收养） him. She doesn‘t know that Conan really is Kudo even though she eventually suspects it. Ran is trained in martial arts and often uses her skills to help defeat（征服） criminals. Ran lives with her dad, Kogoro Mouri, a detective who isn't quite bright. A fan favorite, this mysterious little girl is just plain mysterious and quiet. She, like Conan, also took the APTX-4869 pill (she used to be a woman with the codename（编号名） of Sherry among other names). So, it might as well be that she‘s in serious danger if the members of the Black Organization ever come lurking（潜伏） around! There’s also a lot of talk on whether she likes Conan or not. So, things do get interesting in the ongoing love-triangles A genius（天才） theif who is also a worthy rival （对手）and enemy of Conan. I guess it shouldn‘t be that much of a surprise since he looks almost identical（相同） to Kudo. He loves to steal things that are hard to get (especially jewelry) and doesn’t mind in dwelling（住所） into risky adventures along the way. Will he ever get caught by Conan? We may never know. Dr. Agasa is Kudo‘s neighbor, friend, and inventor. After KUdo gets drugged and shrinks（变小） into a elementary（简单的） kid, Kudo first goes to Agasa for help. From then on, both Agasa and Conan share the secret of Conan’s true identity（本身）. In addition, Agasa often helps Conan solve cases by inventing cool gadgets（小发明） for Conan to use. Kogoro Mouri is the father of Ran Mouri. He is a detective whose business was doing badly after losing potential customers to Kudo. However, when Kudo disappeared, Kogoro‘s business as well as fame soared（猛增). In reality, it was Conan who would figure out(解决) all the cases and give credit （名誉）to Kogoro. Besides not being a very intelligent （聪明）detective, Kogoro also lives a sloppy （草率的）lifestyle. But once you get to know him, he can be really funny.
