The clearance of the bridge from sea level is 64 metres. There is no Bridge piers. It has two bridge towers in door shape .It is a gravity anchored suspension bridge with two zigzag steel cables The distance between the towers (main span) is 1,074 metres. All kinds of ships, or tankers passed through it. As a result of Istanbul's exponential growth during the 20th century, a significant portion of the city is composed of gecekondus.
