Captain Comet and The Purple Planet Lead in 1. Where does this story happen?---(in the outer space) 2. What do you about the outer space? Do you like the stories? 4. Do you want to have a trip in the outer space one day? Why or why not? 5. What do you think of the story of Captain Comet and the Purple Planet? Is it a scary story or a funny one? Why do you think so? Stories about Spanner Spanner is a robot in the space shuttle. He’s bored and then does some silly things. These silly things bring Captain Comet some trouble. Let’s find the silly things Spanner does and the trouble he brings about. And at the same time try to find Captain Comet’s response. Chapter 1. a. the silly thing Spanner does: He presses the red button though Captain Comet asks him not to. b. The trouble he brings about: Captain Comet was floating above the floor! The planet pots were all floating, too. Then he fell onto the floor when Spanner pressed the button again. c. Captain Comet’s response: He was cross. He shouted to Spanner not to touch that red button. Chapter 2. a. the silly thing Spanner does: He wanted to name the new planet Planet Spanner and he made a flag with two spanners on it. c. Captain Comet’s response: Captain Comet was not interested in naming the planet at first, but at last he was amused by Spanner. Chapter 3. a. the silly thing Spanner does: Spanner hammered the sharp flagpole into the ground of the new planet. b. The space monster woke up because of the huge pain ant was going to eat them. c. Captain Comet tried to stop Spanner , but it was too late. There was a huge roar. He shouted to Spanner to go back to the shuttle. He was nervous. Find the descriptions about the terrible monster It was purple and covered in huge spikes. It felt soft and warm. It had two huge angry eyes and giant teeth which were like large ,jagged rocks. The chase and the escape Spanner made a terrible mistake. The space monster woke up and was furious. It was going to eat Captain Comet and Spanner. Terrible things happened next. Find how Captain Comet and Spanner managed to escape? What happened at last? Comet fired the shuttle’s jets. He tried to make a sharp turn, then another. He made the shuttle dive to dodge the giant teeth. Then he flew through a narrow gap between two giant asteroids. The monster: The huge teeth snapped shut behind them. The monster zoomed towards them. The space monster stopped chasing them and flew up to an asteroid and took a big bite out of it. It chomped its way happily through two or three asteroids. The end Captain Comet and Spanner : They managed to escape from the chase of the space monster. The space monster: It chomped its way happily through two or three asteroids. A present: Spanner’s flag was still sticking out of the monster’s bottom and everyone will know that they were the first to find a new kind of space monster. Discussion: 1.
