Music and art festivals are fun and exciting events. If you are planning to go to a festival, its important to plan your trip carefully to ensure that youre safe and have a good time.

Bring clothes to keep warm or cool

In addition to your fun festival clothing, pack a raincoat, some light tank tops, and a sweater or sweatshirt. Dont forget longer pants for cool evenings or bad weather. In general, its best to leave your umbrella at home because they can be dangerous in large crowds.

Get a cheap tent and sleeping bag for muti-day festivals

A majority of people end up throwing their tent away after long festivals, since they normally break from the use. If you dont want to camp at the festival, remember to book an Airbnb or a hotel room nearby! Place a first aid kit in a proper place

I was raised in a house where my sister and I werent trusted by our mother to manage our own appearance. A few years ago, I was home for a visit when my mom, now in her early 70s called me into her bedroom. We were ready to leave for dinner. I don't know what to wear.she complained. You girls always look so good.

I paused in the doorway and looked at her, wondering if Id misheard. What do you mean?I asked her. You know what to wear. No, she answered. I dont. Can you pick some for me? I was so surprised.

This was the same woman that, in 1989. told my younger sister she wasnt allowed to leave the house wearing a pair of ripped(撕碎的) jeans; the same woman that, in high school called me while I was out at a party to ask if my hair was tied up. You look better with it down, she told me. Before I could answer I realized, suddenly, that my mother not only wanted my opinion, but also needed it. I pulled pair of blue jeans and a light blue sweater. Wear them with your black shoes, I told her. She did. My mother certainly doesnt need anyone to take care of her. In fact, she still

cares for my grandmother who lives with her. But with that question, my mother and I started the role reversal(转换) that happens to all parents and all children, from caregivers to receivers. Now, if Im visiting or were together, its rare for her to wear anything without checking with me first. But every so often, it seems that she asks me just to be able to disagree with my answer and pick out something on her own. And when she does, I just tell her what I think of the way she looks. Sometimes its awful.

6. Whats the authors purpose of writing this article?

A. She wants to show what it is like to have a strict mother. B. She wants to remind readers to visit their parents often. C. She wants to stress her mothers great influence on her.

D. She wants to show how the roles of parents and their children reverse.

(三) Many studies have shown how playing video games can lead to structural changes in the brain, including increasing the size of some regions, or to functional changes, such as activating the areas responsible for attention. New research from the University at Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) has gone further to show how cognitive(知的)changes can take place even years after people stop playing.

The study involved 27 people between the ages of 18 and 40 with and without any kind of experience with video gaming.

“People who were video gamers before adolescence, despite no longer playing, performed better with the working memory tasks, which require mentally holding and processing information to get a result, " said Marc Palaus, the author of the study. The results show that people without experience of playing video games as a child did not benefit from improvements in processing and avoiding irrelevant stimuli().Indeed, they were slower than those who had played games as children, which matched what had been seen in earlier studies.

“People who played regularly as children performed better from the outset in processing 3D objects, although these differences were narrowed after the period of training in video gaming, when both groups showed similar levels said Palaus. The study lasted a month and the researchers analyzed participants' cognitive skills, including working memory, at three points: before starting the training in video gaming, at the end of the training, and fifteen days later. The video game used was Nintendo's Super Mario 64.

According to Palaus, what most video games have in common is that they involve

elements that make people want to continue playing, and that they gradually get harder and present a constant challenge. “These two things are enough to make it an attractive and motivating activity, which, in turn, requires constant and intense use of our brain's resources.

“Video games are a perfect recipe for strengthening our cognitive skills, almost without our noticing. However, it's not the reason for playing too much," he said.

7. What can be learned about the study?

A.I t looks at different games. B. It is aimed at adult gamers. C. Its participants are adults. D. Its author likes playing games.

8. How did people playing no video games as children behave in the study?

A.They tended to ignore irrelevant stimuli. B.They failed to physically hold 3D objects.

C.They performed very slowly after training. D.They did worse in working memory tasks.

9. What may Marc Palaus suggest doing?

A.Finding recipes for better cognitive skills. B.Avoiding getting addicted to video games.

C.Trying less challenging video games. D.Forbidding video games for the young.

10. What is the best title for the text?

A.Playing Video Games as Kids Can Cause Changes in Brain B.Video Gamers Memorize Information Much More Quickly C.Video Games Help to Improve Children's Working Memory

D.Playing Video Games Benefits Cognitive Skills Even Years Later 七选五(5X6
