The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hem in gway's most en duri ng works. Told in Ianguage of great simplicity and power, it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal——a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. He struggled with it and fought several days . On acco unt if the wound of the marlin , there came many sharks . The big marli n was eate n up by these sharks and the fisherma n spe nt a lot of stre ngh, but only got a large fish shelf . when he retur ned , people joked him aga in , but they would n ever know how fierce the fight the old man had experie need. I still remember the sentence “ a man can be destroyed but not defeated. ” It tells us that no matter what difficulties you meet , you must hold your hono ur . you may lost this game , but you should n ever give yourself up as hopeless. You are supposed to believe that one day you will make it .
