The Benefits of Volunteering As the saying goes, stand aloof from things which are no concern of us. Under the influence of such an attitude, many people become indifferent and selfish. But there is another saying--As long as everyone gives a little love, this world will be better. In my personal opinion, being a volunteer is a way to sow the seeds of love. Voluntary work requires time and effort without question. However, there are also a lot of advantages. At this season last year, I was chosen as an international volunteer for Peony Festival. Our volunteers tried to make tourists feel at home in Luoyang, a strange city. No matter how hard we worked, it was all worthwhile that visitors said thanks to us. We benefited from it. For one thing, the gratification we got let us feel needed. For another, making friends with people everywhere was also enjoyable. Voluntary work is not just for a certain group of people wearing red hats, and everyone can be a volunteer. I went to Yangzhou a few days ago. One night, because I had lost my way to the guesthouse, I asked a passer-by for help. She not only showed me the way, but also recommended good and inexpensive food to me trying to speak Mandarin. As a person who was aided I realized that volunteering can improve the lives of others. Wasn’t it a benefit?
