However, many people are having conflicting opinions about the policy. I believe teachers’ salaries should be raised to the same levels of doctors and lawyers. Firstly, increasing teachers’ salaries will boost teachers’ enthusiasm and devotion. Secondly, increasing teachers’ salaries draws more brilliant college graduates to devote themselves to teaching and keep them. Admittedly, increasing teachers’ salaries might have undesirable consequences. For instance, it will make education more expensive. The reason is that some schools might raise tuitions in order to pay their teachers. Therefore, the costs of education will go up significantly. As a result, it is possible that many students from underprivileged families will choose to drop out of school. However, schools can obtain more governmental subsidies and public donations and increase teachers’ salaries without increasing the costs of education. Nowadays, lack of sufficient qualified teachers has posed a serious problem to schools across the country. In order to address the situation, it has been proposed that teachers should be paid the same salaries as doctors’, lawyers’ and business leaders’. I believe teachers’ salaries should be raised by a reasonable degree instead of being raised to the same level of lawyers, doctors’ and business leaders. On the one hand, raising teachers’ salaries by a reasonable degree can greatly improve teaching effectiveness. Firstly, increasing teachers’ salaries will boost teachers’ enthusiasm and devotion. secondly, increasing teachers’ salaries draws more brilliant college graduates to devote themselves to teaching and keep them. On the other hand, raising teachers’ pay to the same level of lawyers, doctors or business leaders is impractical. For instance, it will make education more expensive and less affordable to students. The reason is that some schools might raise tuitions in order to pay their teachers. Therefore, the cost of education will go up significantly.
