Personal Statement Respected teacher: Hello! My name is xxx. I am a native of xx, xx Province. I am a junior student at School of Energy and Power Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST), majoring in New Energy Science and Engineering. My academic performance ranks first. The process, however, was not smooth. Ours is a famous class for top dogs, about which I had no clear understanding until I enrolled in this university. In the first semester, my grades were just above the middle level of the class. At that time, I came to see the gap between others and me, and then it became the very beginning of my "dormancy period". I made the best of the following three terms to make up the gap, and the end of the sophomore year saw me stand nearly at the same level with those once ahead of me academically. I did not relax, continued working hard, and I keep ranking the "professional first" in the first term of junior year. In fact, I tell you all these because I desire to prove to you that I am competent, determined and motivated. If I want something, I work for it, and will make it. In the case of individual honors, I won a national scholarship for the 2016-2017 year. And in the past five semesters, I won the Special Scholarship of School for twice and the First-class Scholarship for three times. I am very interested in mathematics, taking an active part in the discipline competition, and having won the third place of in the Eighth National College Mathematics Contest (Non-Mathematics Category). Plus, I have got the third prize in the Thirteenth Advanced Mathematics Competition (Undergraduate Level, Group One) in Jiangsu Province; third prize also in the NJUST 2015 Advanced Mathematics Competition. Next, I would like to talk something about student work. What I want to emphasize is the experience at the Department of Learning. It can be said that since enrollment, the Learning Department has almost accompanied my entire campus life. From deputy minister of the department to minister, I have experienced a succession of partners, and I cherish the friendship and experience. Since I have worked there for a long time, I practically traversed all the jobs of the department, from the routine course checking, self-study checking, weekly quiz organization, monthly examination organization, competition preparation, study style analysis, Curve Wrecker Speaks, to examination room statistics, inspection arrangements, Q&A before the examination, and to the Post-Examination Score Statistics, Reassessment Examination Statistics. Yes, I am responsible and meticulous in everything I have done. I also served as assistant to the foreign liaison of the school, platoon sergeant for Development Department of Military Training, academy guidance for the academic guidance station, and the coordinator for School League Committee. Anyway, I am observant and conscientious. My English is not bad. I have passed the CET4&6 successfully, and I minor English in my spare time. And I have passed the TEM4 of English with flying colors. I have won the honorary title of "All-A Students" twice. I love my class. I organize my knowledge and homework regularly, summarize test points before exams, and answer the questions of my classmates patiently. Besides school work, I take an active part in social practice. Among them, the involvement of our team in "All Citizens' Anti-drug, Be with You" stood out at the provincial level, winning the first prize. Also, I am enthusiastic about volunteering. I joined the youth volunteer association when I was a fresh person. I was a member of the Jiangsu Anti-drug exhibition hall and became a member of the Nanjing Anti-drug Volunteer Association. In the Nanjing City Library, the Happy Valley nursing home, the protection of the February Orchid, the new military training to the green bean soup, the old clothes recycling donation, the City bookstore and many other volunteers, and got the honorary title of "Excellent Volunteer". I have a wide range of interests and hobbies. I had a liking for chess since my girlhood, I won the first place in the girls' group in the chess game of NJUST; I participated in the psychological sitcom contest "Go away, Self-abased Gentleman!" winning the provincial third, school first prize. I take an active part in sports meet, too. I usually insist on regular exercise and keep fit. I participated in the two chamber joint career planning competition and won the second award. I am a serious-minded person in life. I hope to do more meaningful things in the limited course of life. Finally, I would like to talk about my future direction. I study in the new energy science and engineering major, although many people say that this major is not very prospective, but I do not intend to transfer to other unrelated subjects. Since I chose this major, I should stick to it. My scientific research training name is "Bio pyrolysis Oil Steam Reforming to Make Synthetic Gas". It is also related to my major. It is still in progress, so it cannot be reported to you for the time being.
