UNIT7 what does he look like?

Hello, everyone its my great honor to stand here and spare my teaching ides with all of you .Im , today my teaching topic is unit 7 what does he look like? Section b Grade 7, in my class, I divide my teaching plan into 6 parts. they are teaching material ,students analysis ,teaching methods and leaning strategies ,teaching aids ,teaching procedure and blackboard design .now I ll introduce my teaching plan one by one ,please follow me into the first part , teaching material ,

Status & Function

First Analysis of teaching material, Go for It is a series of textbooks compiled for junior middle school students. The central idea of it is to challenge students to gain communicative competence in the study of the culture of this language. Each unit is divided into two parts, they are section a and section b,

The lesson I am going to talk about is unit7, section A. In this unit, the topic is peoples physical appearance. Section A is just a beginning and especially the first step talking about the physically appearance. Teaching Objectives

The next part--- Teaching objectives. I divide the objectives into knowledge objectives, ability objectives and moral objectives.

First, knowledge objectives. In this unit, students should try their best to use some essential vocabularies and patterns to describe peoples physical appearance.

Second, ability objectives. in the language learning process, the four skills are inseparable and mutual interactive, they all contribute to develop their language skill Meanwhile focus will be laid on improving their reading strategies to enhance their autonomous learning strategies.

Next, moral objectives. According to the new standard of English curriculum, moral education plays an important role in language teaching. In this unit, through all kinds of teaching activities ,ss can describe others physical appearance properly and friendly.

Teaching key points and difficulties.

Lets move on to the next part: Teaching key points and difficulties. The key points of this unit are new words: hair ,curly ,straight ,height ,tall, medium,thin,heavy,build,blonde,brown.and structure:what does he look like?they are key points students should pay attention to. As for the difficult point, the ss should know how to use the verbs haveand”be”to describe ones physical appearance. Students analysis.

As we know ,ss is the center of teaching activity, they play an important role in teaching procedure.so Next is Students analysis. Most of the junior middle school students are aged from 13 to 15. They are active, talkative and creative with strong

abilities of memorizing, imitating and performing. So I‟ll provide real contexts, various tasks and challenging activities. The purpose is to motivate students‟ learning enthusiasm and cooperative spirit.

Teaching methods and learning strategies

As far as Teaching methods and learning strategies concerned, I will mainly use task-based teaching method. Various tasks will be designed for the students to master appropriate functional patterns. Besides, I will use situational teaching method and audio-visual teaching method. Various contexts will be set vividly.. For ss, I will guide them to master the learning strategies gradually, prediction, cooperation, sequence, guessing autonomous learning will be encouraged in my class. Teaching aids

Next lets talk about Teaching aids. In this unit, I will make use of multimedia to assist my class. Besides, some real objects, cartoons, pictures, recordings and charts will also be helpful. This will help to create the language situation and enhance the communication between teacher and students. Teaching procedure.

We‟ve finally come to the most important part of my teaching plan----Teaching procedure. It is made up of 5 parts. They are Lead-in, presentation, practice, production and homework.

Now, time to talk about the first stepLead-in.

At the beginning of the class, I ll play a piece of vedio from the movie dairy> , then guide them to have a discussion on the girls changes of physical appearance. for example: ; here I use audio-visual teaching method to help ss know what we will learn in this class. By showing the video, ss attention is attracted. They will be eager to know what the teacher will do next. Step 2: Presentation

With a livily warming up, in this step, I ll show ss some pictures of all kinds of Bush. And I will ask ss What does he look like? Then I will guide them to find the answer based on the pictures, that is: he is tall ect; He has mustache.ect. Here, the main language, points: describe peoples appearance is related naturally. Of course, Ill show them more pictures and information; Let them familiar with the new vocabularies and structures.

In this step, I use situational teaching methods to introduce the new words and key structure: What does he look like? e has/is to ss, meanwhile it can practice ss imaginative and speaking ability.

Through leading to the new topic, in this step, ss will master the structure by choosing their own physical appearance from these pictures, e.g I have long hair, chose it and put into the box. in this way, s can know how to use it in daily life ,meanwhile they

can have an impression on the new words of section a ,thus they can learn them naturally, these are new words, through the pictures, they can have a better understanding of them . Step 3 Practice 1. listening

After learning the new words and the structure, ss can have a listening practice, it can be divided into four steps, the first step, to circle the sentences you hear ,the second step, to fill in chart ,the third step, according to the listening material, ask ss to act conversation out in different roles. The forth step, according to the listening content ,to ask ss to make a composition ,just like this, In this way, it can help ss take shape a good listening habit and to practice listening ability, meanwhile through role play, cooperation sprit in learning strategies can be presented perfectly. And ss can describe their own physical appearance by using the new words and structure to consolidate the difficulty point of section a d practice their writing ability. Next reading practice

In this step, I ll tell ss our class will come four new students, and let ss help me pick up them. In this way, it can practice their reading ability and have an impression on the new words and structure. Step4 Production

I ll design a guessing game to shift the mechanical practice into a meaningful one. ss will be divided into 4 groups, each group will choose one classmate to come to the front, facing the class. Then the teacher will show others a picture of their classmates, famous people or their teachers. The ss below try to describe the person.(each one only has one chance). Let the four guess who is in the photo. The winner will get a red flag. In this step, it can practice ss speaking and cooperation ability. Meanwhile, by guiding them to describe others physical appearance properly and friendly. Moral objects can be achieved. step 5Homework

Homework plays an important role in consolidating knowledge of this lesson So in this step ss will make a review on describing one of their favorite stars.And making a report to the class at next time. This step is aimed to consolidate and review what we‟ve learned in this unit and make ss master the teaching difficult point. The last part of my teaching plan is Blackboard Design

A good blackboard design can reflect what are the teaching key points and difficulty, so I believe through what I m wtiring on bb, ss can have a good review of what they have learnt.
