Generation gap Good morning, everyone. I am very happy to have this chance to give my presentation. I am here to talk to you about generation gap. We've all heard about generation gap, look at the form, It shows the proportion of persons who think there are generation gaps between them and their parents.54.5% of the boys and 45.5% of the girls think that there is a generation gap between them and their parents. What causes this phenomenon? 1. The concept of the generation gap; generation gap is put forward by American anthropologist M. Mead in his book "generation gap in the late 1960 s, it refers to the psychological distance or psychological barrier between the younger generation and the older generation in the ideological method, the values, the attitude of life, the hobbies . 2. The reasons for generation gap As a social phenomenon, it results from the different psychological qualities of the two age groups. Firstly,Physical cause. Because of differences of age and experience , their thinkings are different, young people full of career, friendship, love and life pursuit while their parents are experienced people who have their own understanding, no communication will generate contradictions, increase the misunderstanding. Secondly,Social development, because of the application of electronic products and parentsˊlack of learning, the oldersˊ knowledge become unbalanced. Thirdly,cultural change.Because of the development of society, the mainstream culture has changed, it's easy for the two generation to have a generation gap. 3. How can we correctly view generation gap---Dialectical [ˌdaɪə'lektɪkl]view The generation gap is inevitably,it has good side, it suggests that young people are learnning and progressing, can more esaliy adapt to changes of environment;The bad side is the generation gap will deepen the gap between parents and children,If lasts for a long time it can affect family happiness 4. How to sovle the generation gap problem-communication; Communication is the best way to solve the generation gap.Only communication, different ideas can be understood ,respects can be gained from each other, the relationship between young people and their parents can be changed.
