Motherhood during the earthquake: A nameless mother, an emotive message The day the May 12th, 2008 was a nightmare for all the Chinese people who should have lived and worked in peace. A magnitude 8.0 earthquake rattled the Wenchuan County fiercely. The earthquake epicenter, beichuan, liked a piece of fragile leaves which was thoroughly ruined, and still in dangerous of being destroyed again. At such a life-and-death moment, human beings could always show miraculous power to protect their loved ones. Now I gonna to tell you a real story of a nameless mother who died during the earthquake. She had already died when she was found under a heap of ruin. Her posture was somewhat strange: Kneeling on both knees, her entire upper body was crawling upon the ground, as if performing the ceremonial bow in an ancient ritual. When rescuers were moving to another building disappointedly, someone shouted loudly:” Come here! Something is held under her body!” After some efforts, rescuers take the 3-month-year-old baby away from her bosom. The baby was sleeping silently under her body, wrapped with a piece of small quilt. His peaceful face filled everyone presented with warmth and hope. The accompanying doctor suddenly discovered a mobile phone was held in the quilt… On the screen was a short message which had been already written: “My dear treasure; if you can live fortunately, certainly must remember I love you forever.” The doctor burst into tears at that moment… The phone was transmitted, and everyone…cry… That’s not the end of this real story. In order to memory of the great motherhood of this nameless mother, I wrote a piece of short poem, or the monologue of this nameless mother: (I don’t know the rhythm of writing poem, just some short sentences with same order.) When the roof crushed my body relentless, When the sky got darker and darker, I didn’t know whether I can be survived any more... Will I still be allowed to kiss your lovely face again? Will I still be allowed to enjoy your vigorous laughter again? Will I still be allowed to accompany with you during all the days you growing up? The only thing I can do is to pray to the sky for your alive Should my fire turn to dark Take my heart with you And always remember, I love you Then, my life will not in vain for living as your mother Everyone’s mum is our mom, while everyone’s child is our child. During the rest of your life in which I can’t accompany with you any longer, Other moms will give you love, which will replace mine, and be with you forever and ever. My dear treasure; if you can live fortunately, certainly must remember I love you forever.
