Lesson 75

I. Teaching Aim and Requirement:

1. to learn the usage of the new words and phrases: sick, smell, solve, believe, unusual, difficult, alone, sooner or later.

2. to master the indefinite pronouns and adverbs: something, anything, nothing, somebody, anything, nobody, everybody, somewhere, anywhere, everywhere.

II. Important and difficult points: The usage of the indefinite pronouns and

adverbs.

III. Teaching aids: CAI IV. Teaching procedure: Step 1. Check the homework.

ask some groups to act out their dialogues as they were told to prepare yesterday.

Step 2. Ask and answer

(课件呈现一群学生去野炊的图片,同时播放对话,对话不呈现,只配音) 对话如下:A: Do you have anything to eat?

B:Yes, I have got something delicious to eat. A :What is it?

B: Smell and guess.(在播放到这儿时,图片中的一学生做smell

的动作。)

A:Oh, chicken, thats my favourite. B:What do you take with you then?

A: I have something different with me, something unusual with me.

Guess what it is.

ask and answer about the dialogue.

T: What did A take with him? How did B know? T: What did B take with him? Guess what it is.

(出示课件) show a camera on the screen. T: It’s a camera. Can you use it? But I can’t use it well. It’s not easy for me to use it, it’s hard, it’s difficult (hard, not easy)for me to do that. But I think some of you can help me, and I’m sure of that, I believe(be sure) some of you can help me solvework out the problem. T: Read the new words and sentences after the teacher.

Step 3 Practice

T: Do you think it is difficult for you to remember these new words? Ss: Yes.

T: Nothing difficult , I think. I can help you solve the problem. Read again and again, I believe you can remember them sooner or later. Ss: Thanks a lot, I believe so.

(课件呈现上面的对话和图片) a) fly a kite b) make a cake c) ride a bike d) boat

Ask the students to make similar dialogues according to the pictures.

T: You see, it’s easy for x xx to boat. Bruce , Bill and their friends are good at boating. So they soon landed on the Monkey Island. Step 4. Discussion

(课件呈现猴岛的部分风景,香蕉树和猴子的叫声,同时在右边出现单词 see, hear, smell, something, anything, nothing, someone, anyone,)

T: Is there anything or anyone on the island? Are they only by themselves? Are they alone(by oneself) or not? Please discuss in groups according to the picture , using the given words for several minutes, then check the results of their discussion.

T: Yes, we can see some banana trees, and we can hear something unusual, there must be some animals. but can you see them anywhere? Ss: No, we can’t see them (anywhere).

T: We can’t see them anywhere , but I believe they must be somewhere on the island. (课件呈现带有新单词的句子和几只猴子) Oh, look, they are over there, behind the banana trees.课件特写一只小猴子)Look at the little monkey, it looks very worried. What’s wrong with it? Can you guess? (Let the students give the different answers)

T: I think it doesn’t feel well, it is ill, it’s sick (ill). No matter what’s wrong with it. I think it’s in trouble, it needs help. Look, the children are in trouble, too. They need help,too. What will you do to help them? (课件逐个呈现图片)

Picture 1: The girl is crying, saying “I’m hungry.”

Picture 2: The boy looks worried, saying “ Where’s my key?” (ask the results) Picture 3: The boy (from Part 3 in L.75) is reading a book, but he looks puzzled, saying “It’s too difficult, I can’t understand it well.”

Ask the students to discuss how to help them or give them suggestions. But they must use the indefinite pronouns and adverbs.

T: (指向第三幅图画)I will ask him to do something else, not reading. (点击鼠标出现那男孩在打电脑,两个女孩在玩牌) Look, he stops to play the computer, and his sisters are playing with cards.( 点击鼠标听到电话铃声,一妇女接电话) Who’s the woman answering the telephone? What’re they talking? Let’s listen. After listening , ask the students to answer the questions.

1) Who is the telephone from? 2)Who answers the telephone?

3)Who looks after the children? 4)Is everything OK? Is everyone OK?

Then ask the students to talk about the picture in their own words. Trying to use the indefinite pronouns and adverbs. Of course they can discuss first.

At last (课件呈现一篇不完整的短文) ask the students to fill in the blanks in indefinite pronouns and adverbs.

The possible verse: Linda’s home is somewhere in a village, but she works in a city far away. So she asks someone /somebody to look after her children. One day, while the children were playing something interesting, the telephone rang. Emily answered the telephone, Linda asked something about her children. Emily told her that everything was OK, everyone was well, nobody was sick. And she told her not to worry about anything else. I believe Linda must be very happy to hear that.

Step 5 Homework

Finish the workbook.
