Student Number:11311020231 English Name:Frank Chinese Name:余成波 Course:Culture and society of the united kingdom Date of completion:7/6/2015 Do you think that the monarchy is completely unnecessary in the twenty-first century?Some people hold the idea that nowadays it’s completely unnecessary to let the monarchy exist.They think that ,over the centuries ,the real power of monarchy has gradually been reduced and today the queen actually has no real power at all.Besides,they think that it is very unfair that the taxpayer should pay for the running costs of Buckingham Palace,Windsor Castle ,three other palaces,a royal yacht,a royal train and a royal plane and other royal expense.In my opinion,the monarchy is not completely unnecessary in the twenty-first century. As you can see,the British monarchy is the supreme illustration of the way British institutions develop. Most British people regard the Monarchy as a long-established tradition,which,with all its color and pageantry and with all the feelings of personal respect which it inspires,they would be most unwilling to lose.The British love tradition;the Queen represents much that is traditional.
