How to Correctly Understand and Translate the Compound words Formed from Here-, There- and Where- in Foreign Trade and Economic Contract Introduction Translating a business contrate is not as easy as we thought .As legal document, Contracts is a kind of practical writing style, it always focus on documentary. The characteristics of business contract wording in English are formal, accurate and rigorous. When we translate contracts, some words in the phrase word documents, particularly compound adverbs for official documents are needed, using these words will make the structure of the text compact, concise and comprehensive. Documental adverb is one kind of English compound adverb. Compound words frequently used in the contrate are formed from here-, there- and where- .It is made by combining adverb here, there, where and adverb after, by , in, of, on, to, under, upon,etc. This paper amies to study the usage of adverb in business contrate and agrement by using some examples to analyze documental adverb which formed from here-,there-and where- , and then improve the daily level and quality of translating business contract . 1.Compound adverb formed from Here- Here is an adverb, but it can also be used as an compound adverb by associating with after, at, above, by, from, in, of, on, to, under, upon and with .such as hereafter、hereat、hereby、herefrom、herein、hereinabove、hereinafter、hereinbefore、hereinbelow、hereinto、hereof、 hereon、hereto、 heretofore, hereunder、 hereunto、hereupon、herewith,etc. Even though there so many compound adverb formed from Here-, at present, some of this formed compound adverbs are not be used in contrate any more. Then I will list some often-used word in nowadays English contrate writing. Documental adverb formed from Here-:Hereby, Hereto , Herein, hereof hereinafter. These adverbs are not only used in document,such as report,but also used in contrate,agreement,etc. Some examples as follow: 1.1.Here combined with another one adverb 1.1.1Hereby,the meaning of this adverb in the contrate is "by means of this, as a result of this document or utterance". It is usually at the beginning of some formal documents such as 1 contrate,agreement. "The employer hereby covenants to pay the Contractor ......","We hereby certify to the best of our knowledge that......","The Parties to this Contract, in the spirit of friendly cooperation, hereby signed and concluded this Contract......". 1.1.2.Hereof means "of this document, of or concerning this". "In the case Party A decides not to continue with the progress of Works, this Contract shall be terminated under Article 10 hereof." the adverb hereof in this sentence means of the contrate which mentioned above. 1.1.3.Hereto means"to this writing, document or matter." "This Contract shall be in duplicate, to be held by each of the Parties hereto and shall have two copies kept by each of the Parties hereto for the record." in this sentence ,"Parties hereto" instead of "the parties to the contrate ". 1.1.4.Herein means"in this document, book, place or thing". "Unfair competition mentioned herein refers to such acts of business operators as contravene the provisions hereof, with a result of damaging the lawful rights and interests of other business operators, and disturbing the sociol-economic order." In "unfair competition mentioned herein",herein means"in this Law"；The adverb herein in this sentence means the team company in this low. 1.2.Here combined with another two adverb Hereinafter means"further on in this document, in a subsequent part of this document or statement or matter", it usually used combined with phrases such as to be referred to as, referred to as, called and so on . 2.Compound adverb formed from there- There can also be used as an compound adverb by associating with in ,of, after ,to with and so on . 2.1.Therein has those English meanings of" in that; in that particular context; in that respect". "Temporary Works"means all temporary works of every kind (other than the Contractor’s Equipment) required in or about the execution and completion of the works and the remedying of any defects therein.
