A Brief Introduction of Daqing No.17 Middle School Daqing No.17 Middle school originated from the former Daqing No.17 Middle school which was combined with the former Daqing No 2 Middle school. The former No.17 Middle school was founded in September, 1974. When founded, it was called oil exploration Middle school, which was attached to the headquarters of oil exploration. In 1980, it was renamed as Daqing No.17 Middle school and in 1999 it was promoted as a key Middle school of Daqing; The former Daqing No.2 Middle school was founded in September,1959, which was the first Senior High school during the beginning period of Daqing Oilfield Meeting and it had quite a long history. With the development of the education situation, and to integrate excellent educational resources, in July 2003, the former Daqing No.17 Middle school combined with the former Daqing No.2 Middle school forming the new No.17 Middle school so as to achieve mutual supplement with each other’s advantages. The new Daqing No.17 Middle school was promoted as a key provincial Middle school in October, 2005, which was attached to Daqing Oilfield Education Center. The teaching staff of our school is 315, among which there are 212 teachers who give the students lessons now. The number of the Senior high students is 18,543 and that of the Junior high students is 527. We have the North Campus and the South Campus, which cover the area of 222,333 square meters in all and whose built-up area is about 47,853.66 square meters. The use of advanced teaching equipment is one of our distinctive features, such as the 400 meters standard outdoor plastic field, the indoor stadium, 4 computer rooms, 3 language labs, and multimedia teaching in every class. Besides, according to national standards, our school has built plenty of laboratories about the following aspects: robotics, the automobile principle, the aero-modeling technology, physics, chemistry and biology, whose number adds up to 12. We also own a library with 74,000 books and four reading rooms. Meanwhile, the campus closed-circuit television, the school broadcast station, the electronic preparation room, the music room, the drawing room as well as the psychological counseling room are well built and used in our school. For many years, our school has stuck to setting the goal to establish a school that satisfies the public. To achieve it, we insist on managing the school with the Daqing Spirit and educating the students with the Iron Man Spirit. It is our concept to cultivate the modern students who develop completely with creative minds. At the same time, we explore in practice and form the “123451”teaching management model of 123451 to develop the distinctive features of science and technology education. What we wish is that each student can gain the best development which is suitable for them. In recent years, we have made great progress in the achievements of the High School Entrance Exam and the College Entrance Exam, which shows the teaching quality and the teaching level have improved a lot. Our joint efforts have contributed to the aim of helping each student rise to a much higher level however low they were when they entered the school.
