living, alive, live, 与 lively 用法辨异 ■崔长平 河南省遂平县第一高级中学（463100） 1）living 意为“活着的，活的”，常在句中用作表语、宾补、前置定语、比喻意义的前置定语。与the连用时，意为“活着的（人）”，作名词用，反义词是the dead，作主语时，谓语动词用复数。 2）alive 意为“活着的，活的”，是一个a-类形容词，经常在句中作表语、后置定语、宾补等，但不能作前置定语。alive用作表语时，暗含“虽有死的可能，但仍然活着”的意思，此时不能与living换用。 3）live [ lai:v] 意为“活的，实况转播的”，只能用来作前置定语，其意义是“活生生的，活蹦乱跳的”，“真实的，并非虚构或假想的”。 4）lively 意为“生动的，活泼的”，其意义与前三个有着根本的不同，容易区别开来。 e.g. No living man respects the man like him.
