单词短语:rainstorm, suddenly, alarm , go off ,begin 句子:

1. What were you doing at eight last night? I was taking a shower.

2. What was she doing at the time of the rainstorm? She was doing her homework.

3. What was he doing when the rainstorm came?

He was reading in the library when the rainstorm came. 语法:过去进行时。

教学难点: when, while引导的时间状语从句中的过去时和过去进行时 教学过程:

Step 1 Warming up

1.Ask and answer questions with the students.

Yesterday, there was a rainstorm. Where were they when the rainstorm came? A: What are you doing now?

B: We are having an English class.

A: Where were you doing at this time yesterday? S1: S2: S3:

2. Show some pictures on the screen and show the differences of the Present Progressive Tense and the Past Progressive Tense.

1) What is she doing now? She is singing.

What was she doing at seven last night? She was singing at seven last night. 2) What is he doing now? He is playing the piano.

What was he doing at 9:30 last night? He was playing the piano at 9:30 last night. 3) What are they doing now? They are running. What were they doing at 7 a.m. yesterday. They were running at 7 a.m. yesterday. 3.Pair-work

Ask students to talk about the pictures on the screen. Step 2. Presentation

1a Where were the people at the time of the rainstorm? Match the statements with the people in the picture.

3._____ I was on the street. 4._____ I was at the bus stop.


Step 2 ListeningWhat were they doing when the rainstorm came? Lets listen. Pay attention to “was/were +doing”

1b Listen to the TV report and circle the correct response. a. doing my homework / studying b. playing basketball / reading

Pair work: 1c Talk about what the people in 1a were doing at the time of the rainstorm. Step 4 Guessing game

2a Listen and number the pictures 1-5.

2b Listen again. Fill in the blanks in the sentences in 2a. Step 6 Speaking

2c Use the information in 2a to retell the story in a conversation between the boy and a TV reporter.
