直译: The so-called literal translation, superficially speaking, means “not to alter the original words and sentences”; strictly speaking, it strives “to keep the sentiments and style of the original”. It takes sentences as its basic units and takes the whole text (discourse) into consideration at the same time in the course of translation. 意译: Free translation is an alternative approach that is used mainly to convey the meaning and spirit of the original without trying to reproduce its sentences patterns or figures of speech. This approach is most frequently adopted when it is really impossible for the translator to do literal translation. Obviously free translation to a just right extent can avoid the not smooth and stupid phenomenon, and make writing seemed to be clearer and flow freely. If people cannot find the equivalent phrases, they should use the appropriate language to free translate or explain, which must match the expression customs. 直译+意译: By any means, in the translation practice, literal and free translation are all no serious mistakes committed. If the contents can be literally translated, then translate them literally; if they can't be literally translated, then translate them freely. Method to employ usually requires delicate handling. If these kinds of translation methods are used reasonably and complement with each other, the quality of business translation will be much better. When the translator uses literal translation,he wants to express himself more directly,as we can see, the first and second translation “i’m just a servant”,it can convey the confidant’s loyalty and his low position.
