Unit 15 Lesson 1: Life-long Learning

学情分析

I. Analysis of the teaching background

1)The first is about the teaching material . This is the first lesson in unit 15. By showing three persons’ life-long learning experience, the text emphasizes the importance of life-long learning. 2) About the students .

Students have learnt unit 14 and thought of their ideal jobs in the future, so they know the importance of learning. They may be interested in the topic. Grade Two students have mastered some reading skills , but they are not skilful to catch main information from the text, and they lack the vocabulary and structure to retell stories. The levels of students are averaged or under average. 3) Key and difficult points

1. To improve students reading skills information-gathering and help them master some useful vocabulary, structure and retell the stories.

II. Analysis of the teaching aims. There are three aims in this lesson .

1.Knowledge aim: To learn some useful and important words phrases and sentence pattern while reading .

2.Ability aims: To develop the skills of reading (such as scanning) to retell stories after reading.

3.Emotion aim: To realize the importance of life-long learning. .Analysis of the teaching methods 1.Task-based method

main tasks: Retell stories , subtasks: fill in the blank ; ask and answer and consolidate exercises.

IV. Analysis of the learning methods.

This class will employ self-study, team work and practice. For example, answer some questions


and doing some exercise and so on. These will guarantee the students personal involvement. Therefore, various skills are improved.

I. lead in (5mins)

2. Activity1:Teacher introduces herself. (Intentions: Let students get familiar with her.)

3. Activity 2: Show students two famous English sayings about learning.

4. Activity3:Show students pictures and ask them to decide what kind of people need to learn.(Intention: Lead out the topic). II. Pre-reading (1mins)

Ask students to look at the title and picture and guess what the text is about.(Intention: To develop

students’ reading skill-prediction.)

II. Pre-reading (1mins)

Ask students to read the whole passage quickly and answer the following questions. (scan the text) 1) What is the text about ?

2) Who are mentioned in the text?

(Intention: To develop students reading skill-scanning) III.

Fast-reading(2mins)

Ask students to read the whole passage quickly and answer the following questions. (scan the text) 3) What is the text about ?

4) Who are mentioned in the text?

(Intention: To develop students reading skill-scanning) IV. Careful reading (18mins)

1. Ask students to read the text again and finish exercise 3 on page 36. (Intention: To help the students understand the text exactly.)

2. Teach students some useful words and expressions while checking the answers. (Intention: To let students master the useful words and expressions.) V. Post-reading (12mins)

Ask students to do exercise 5 on page 37 and retell the three persons stories and (Intention: To practice their oral English and help students consolidate what they have learned.)

VI. Summary (2mins)

1. Students review what they have learnt.
